Policies The most important part of the Religious Education Program is that the children in our care are provided a safe and protected environment at all times. In working to fulfill this obligation, at NO time will a child be left alone with an adult. Cell phones are not allowed to be used in any way during class. Safety
Grades 1-4 students need to be signed out by pre-designated authorized adults. Grades 5 & 6 students need a driver to come into the building to get them. Grades 7 - 10 students will be dismissed from the hall
Arrival & Dismissal Please bring students a few minutes early so that classes may start on time. Late arrivals are disruptive. Early pickup is discouraged. Parents are invited to join in closing prayer and requested not to disrupt these prayers with casual conversation.

Classrooms Due to increasing enrollment, the main hall will be used as a classroom. Therefore, it is very important to maintain a low noise level. It is very difficult for the teacher to hold the student's attention while competing with noise and distractions.

Cancellations We follow the Norwell School Department cancellation policy. If school is canceled, so are our classes. We will also cancel classes when there is an unexpected release during the school day due to inclement weather. If school is in session we will have the Norwell schools announce religious ed closing during the school day. *Any change or cancellation to the schedule will also be annouced on the office answering machine. Sunday cancellations will be announced on WBZ Radio 1030 and aired on WBZ 4 News.

Attendance
Classes are to be attended according to grade level calendars. Due to unexpected events, the calendar may be revised, but notice will be announced on this Web site and in the church bulletin. Absences need to be called into the Religious Education Office prior to the class. This policy helps to ensure the safety and communication between us and your home. Excessive absences will be discussed and a makeup plan put into place.
Makeup Work
Parents will call the Religious Education Office for the class material and announcements missed during the week of absence. This enables the student to remain current with events, the ongoing curriculum of the grade and avoid summer makeup. The Archdiocesan Guidelines states that no religious grades may be skipped. If such a gap occurs, the family must make arrangements for the student to learn and be assessed on the missed curriculum.

Discipline All grades will be handled as follows: - First warning will be given by the teacher.
- The second situation will be directed to the Religious Education Director.
- Third situation will result in a parent/office conference to determine what course of action should be taken.
