Welcome to Saint Helen's religious education. We offer classes for children in grades 1 through 10. Classes are held on weekdays as well Sunday mornings. For a description of the program offered for each grade, please see our Programs page.

The success of our program relies heavily on volunteer teachers from our community. Please consider volunteering as a teacher. Support and assistance is always available to you. As an additional incentive, teachers will receive a tuition waiver for your family. Unable to teach? There are many other volunteer opportunities: substitute teachers, babysitters, special event staff, chaperone's, sewers. Please complete our Volunteer Form.

St. Helen's Religious Ed program is a very active program that incorporates service to others in every grade level.  We are all disciples of Jesus.  Below are some of the examples how we reach out to our brothers and sisters.

Grade 1 dressed Teddy bears this year for the Salvation Army Christmas party.

Grade 3 handed out Valentines to all parishioners at the 10:00 Mass on February 14.  Thank you grade 3 for all your "love".  For Easter Grade 3 filled Easter eggs with candy and messages of Easter wishes for the COA.

Grades 4 and 5 create beautiful quilts for the Project Linus organization.  Quilts and blankets are given to children in hospitals and to orphans.

Grade 6 works with Grade 2 on their "Journey to Jesus".  They create posters to enhance their lessons and they host the Family Masses together every month.

Grades 7 and 8 made over 200 care kits for Fr. Bill's and Grade 9 will be cooking and serving the patrons of Fr. Bill's.

Our Confirmation class serves many in the community, Fr. Bill's, Cradles to Crayons, Long Island Shelter to name a few.  They also host a Parish Halloween party with the proceeds to help stock the local food pantry.

St. Helen's youth are living their faith!

St. Helen's Youth will be heading to NJ again, through the Catholic HEART Workcamps program, August 1-7.  Thank you for your support in their on-going fundraising, and your constant prayers.

Please check our calendar for classes and events going on througout the year!

In Appreciation

While we appreciate all of the efforts of all of our volunteers and students, some go above and beyond or perform outstanding service! We would like to showcase their efforts here.

With the start of a new school year, we would like to recognize our parents, fellow parishioners, and many high school students who have come forward and committed themselves to sharing their faith with our students.

Our Father Bills volunteers are receiving as much, or more than they are giving.  If you would like to be a part of this ministry please email Mrs Danielle Palzkill at d.palzkill@comcast.net .

Our students will have their hands in many service projects this year, including the Halloween Party on Oct 25th, our Dress-a-Bear program, the Thanksgiving and Christmas Outreach projects,  St. Helen's Clipper Night (date tba), just to name a few.   If you would like to be a part of these projects, please call the office at 659-7344.

Thank you to our High School students wh0 spent a week in Kearny NJ, helping those less fortunate.  We hope to be heading there again this summer.  If you are interested in this awesome experience call the religious ed office for more information.

THANK YOU TO ALL OUR VOLUNTEERS!

OUR FAITH IS WORKING HERE AT ST. HELEN'S!!
